Donor
January / February 2005
On the 22nd of January, me and the other half went for a test drive at Marlin. Decided that this was the kit car for us. Weather was appalling. Good chance to test the roof!!!!

6th February and I find a donor 220 turbo coupe. This was part of my plan. The plan was to get the bits together as I had already found an engine. The guy said the chassis was bent and was uneconomical to repair. The car looked ok to repair but I came to my senses. I actually felt guilty stripping the car.

9th Feb and I order module 1 & 2. Terry at Marlin said this would be ready by the end of Feb!!! I really need to get going with stripping this donor and also clear out the garage!!!

I've been trying to start the car all week when coming home from work. But with alarm whiling decided to limit until the weekend. I thought the alarm problems was mainly due to the central locking not working. Another problem was the start could be jammed. So knowing that my first task is to get the wing and front bumper off and a bit of TLC with a hammer might be needed, decide to finish work a little early. This was to minimise the noise to the neighbours. After removing items with a combination of sockets and a hammer (mostly used) all was free. Now time to try and jump start the car. First pulled the horn fuse to stop the alarm. With the other half in drivers seat gave a big put. Brilliant!!! started first time. Drove around the block a couple times. Only the rubbing of the wheel arch liner could be heard. But at least it's moving with plenty of go!!! All happy parked car up and switched off. Tried starting with starter all started!!. Things was looking up. Leaped out of car and locked the door. Central locking was know working!!. Thought I would try my luck and put fuse for horn back in. And all was ok that was not before.

First task today was to check the washer system. This was because I needed it for the build and this was the area where the smash happened. With jets not squirting but pump whirring decided to take apart and give a good clean. removed pump, washer bottle and hoes. used foot pump to blow through all hoses and gave everything a good clean with some cleaning detergent. Connected all back up and still not working. Lucky there was two pumps. Connected up to other pump and jets started to spray. I only need one pump for the build so all was ok.
